HESLB: Appeal Window Will Be Closed 27 Nov 2018

Following the applications for credit applier of higher education students for the year 2018/2019, we inform all those who need to appeal and have not completed the exercise due to several challenges including not completing the required documentation, HESLB has increased two days until November 27, 2018. In the previous statement, the appeal window was opened on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 and started receiving credit appeals for the 2018/2019 academic year and was expected to be closed today on Sunday, November 25, 2018. Applicants of student loans can go through http.olas.heslb.go.tz where pupils will fulfill the terms and conditions will be credited in late November 2018.

Shock, dilemma as Fiesta 2018 climax called off

Dar es Salaam. Organisers of Fiesta 2018 have called off the climax of the festival set to take place at the Leaders Club in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, November 24, a move that is likely to leave many funs in shock. ANNOUNCEMENT FOR STUDENTS SEEKING FOR TRANSFER FROM JOSIAH KIBIRA UNIVERSITY COLLEGE (JoKUCO) and  MOUNT MERU UNIVERSITY (MMU) TO THE UNIVERSITY OF  DODOMA (UDOM)  The University of Dodoma (UDOM) wishes to inform the general public that UDOM in consultation with the Tanzania Commission for Universities ( TCU ) is finalizing processing of the transfer of students from JoKUCO and MMU. Meanwhile, all students involved in this transfer are informed that they are required to report at UDOM on Saturday 1st December, 2018 for registration into their respective programmes. The specific conditions for registration will be communicated at a later date after TCU’s approval of the same. Overall, UDOM will consider transfer of the concerned students on a case- by-case basis. Sezibera: CFTA should now consider free movement of people

Former secretary general of the East African Community (EAC) Dr Richard Sezibera said the African Continental Free Trade Area should now think of free movement of people to make it more vibrant. The agreement signed in March this year seeks to create a single market of 49 countries through facilitation of free movement of goods. So far, 12 countries have ratified the agreement including Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda. Dr Sezibera told the participants of the Intergovernmental Committee of Experts meeting on Tuesday that the agreement should now consider including free movement of people, visa free entrance among member states  and forming single air in the region. "Movement of goods is only easy with the movement of people," he said. "We should also know that we are not in competition but complementing each other," said Dr Sezibera who was recently appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs in Rwanda. IPP Group signs deal to start car assembly plant

Commercial and non-commercial vehicles buyers in Tanzania will no longer be required to use foreign currencies after IPP Automobile Ltd announced a plan to set up an assembly plant in Dar es Salaam yesterday. The first new vehicles branded Hyundai and Daewoo are expected to be on sale in September, next year. The plant will be assembling 1,000 vehicles per year. This was disclosed after IPP Automobile Ltd signed an agreement with a technical representative from Korean Youngsan Glonet Corporation, who represented Hyundai and Zyle Daewoo companies. The $10 million (Sh23 billion) deal was signed by Reginald Mengi, the executive chairman of IPP Group, which also owns IPP Automobile Limited and Youngsan. The car assembly plant will produce commercial and construction lorries, buses and sports utility vehicles (SUVs). Call for protection of Muslim Council constitution and properties

Dar es Salaam. National Muslim Council of Tanzania (Bakwata) regional secretaries have been directed to protect the organisation’s constitution and property for the interests of the Muslims in the country. This was said by Moshi secretary Sheikh Awadh Lema on behalf of others on Tuesday, November 20 during the Maulid Council meeting held in Korogwe District, Tanga Region at the national level. “We, district and regional secretaries, across the country will protect the constitution and all the properties of the council and make sure we know where they are,” he said adding all the secretaries have changed after self-consciousness so will work hard. The Maulid council meeting has was attended by several guests including government officials. Arusha. Suspicions on money laundering and associated illegal transactions is the main reason behind the closure of foreign exchange shops in Arusha on Monday for inspections. Investigations involving various government organs are currently underway and those implicated to be involved in 'dirty' money will face the full wrath of the law. "They will be charged in courts and at the same time have their licenses revoked", the central bank governor FlorensLuoga announced here yesterday. He said the closure of forex outlets in Arusha for inspections was part of a country-wide crackdown against the masterminds of syndicate behind money laundering, in particular, and those operating without licences. He added that from now on the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) has suspended issuance of  licenses to run bureaux de change and that it would be lifted after new regulations that would plug loopholes for illegal money transactions are  put in place.
