Minister of State, President's Office Regional Administration and Local Government Hon.  Selemani Jafo has called on all councils in the country to follow the example of Dodoma City Council in the provision of women, youth and people with disabilities.

Minister Jafo said this during the award-winning ceremony worth more than Shs. 1.06 (1,062,500,000) from local revenue in Dodoma City for the 2018/19 financial year 2011.

He said that some councils should ensure that 10 percent of their domestic income is directly transferred to women and youth groups and people with disabilities to raise economic growth.

“The city of Dodoma has become an example in many things since the collection of revenue has led to the raw output and today they have practiced the Local Government Finance Act Act No. 290, section 37A and its principles of issuing and management of credit to women's groups  , youth and people with disabilities in 2019.

Jafo added: “Collecting revenue is one thing and the issuance of credit is another thing, the council can gather but not give these loans to the groups, now Dodoma has done all of this seriously and efficiently to thank the City of Dodoma and ask other Councils to learn and imitate the model.  you do a good job.

At the same time, Jafo has called for the leadership of Dodoma to stay with stakeholders to design and develop a major project that will be able to benefit specific groups that will be implemented by 10 domestic revenue.

“You know our people want to succeed in business and they also prefer big business so you can make a project if you make them better and give them as a part of the loan will build them and change their lives than every day to give them money is better when you give them an investment,” added Jafo.

And the eligible Mayor of the City of Dodoma Prof.  Davis Mwamfupe said Dodoma City as well as granting these loans have gone further by ensuring they are looking for more knowledge and skills colleges for Credit beneficiaries to be more productive.

He also said in the future they would expect to provide their equipment and tools rather than to give them money to avoid them from possible financial impacts.

The City Director, Godwin Kunambi said that Dodoma City has begun to lend to groups from the 2015/16 financial year to December 2018 where a total of Tshs 2,434,757,316 is located in the group loans.

He added that over 2.6 billion shillings (2,606,645,760) were budgeted for in the 2018/19 financial year with a total of 1,796,730,000 shillings in July to December 2018.

“Funds that you donate today amounting to shillings 1,062,500,000 make the Dodoma City Council for the fiscal year 2018/19 to provide a total of Tshs. 2,859,230,000 equivalent to 109.6 percent of the targeted goals” said Kunambi.

The total groups of women, youth and people with disabilities benefiting from the Dodoma City Council from 2015/16 are now 1,020 with a total of 10,200 members with a total of Shs. 3,497,257,316.
