Tanzania: Dar RC, Police, Tcra Team Up Against Cybercrime

THE office of the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner in collaboration with police force and Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) are forming a joint team to deal with those who are misusing social media by promoting prostitution and homosexual acts. The move comes in response to a recent incident of a video vixen popularly known as Amber Rutty, whose recorded pornographic video went viral on social media and drew condemnation from people of all walks of life. According to the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Paul Makonda, the taskforce was formed to help TCRA fight cybercrime, being conducted through promoting prostitution, deception and all other behaviours that lead to moral decay in the society. "We have decided to take serious actions against all culprits of social media," he said, adding, he will start receiving names of all people who are suspected to be performing homosexual acts. Reasons For Black Rhino Needs Extra Protection

THE black rhino is an endangered species and the government is working tirelessly to save it from being totally extinct. According to wild life statistics, the number of these animals dropped tremendously in the recent past. In a report, the Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI), says the country had 10,000 Rhinos in early 1970s conserved in different national parks, but the number diminished to only 32 in 1995. This is the reason for the heavyweight mammal to be classified as an endangered species. Dr Jasson John of the University of Dar es Salaam describes that African Rhinos are of two types, white and black rhinos. He says though, color does not mainly distinguish black or white rhino, but their ways of life. He says what differentiates black and white rhinos is basically the way of feeding and calf rearing. He says that white rhinos have a wider mouth and they are grazers, eating grass like cows or goats while black rhino are browsers, feeding on tree tops like giraffe. An...
